Bernadette Peters
Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara, born February 28 1948) is an American actress, singer and author of children's books. Through her long career, she has been on TV, in film as well as in musical theatre. She also performed as a solo artist and recorded. She is a critically acclaimed Broadway actor, having earned seven nominations for Tony Awards, winning two (plus an honorary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations, receiving three. Four of the Broadway album of cast on which she has performed have been awarded Grammy Awards.
Peters is widely acknowledged as the most well-known interpreter for the works of Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87) and The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011), and Hello, Dolly (2018).
